Struggling for new season style inspo? Look to your star sign for the answer
We have been itching for spring to arrive for what feels like *forever*. Not just because it means (hopefully) sunny forecasts, but because we can finally wear the spring summer fashion trends we first cast eyes on last fashion week, all the way back in September of last year.
But after reaching for our winter coats, oversized jumpers and knee high boots on repeat for the last six months, now that the new season has arrived we're suddenly not sure where to start. Especially because of the sheer number of trends around RN. Can we style our bomber jackets with loafers? How do we make naked dressing work for IRL and not on a red carpet? Are 3D florals still big news?
Well, it turns out the answer may just be written in the stars – literally. James Justice, founder of streetwear brand Altory, has analysed the SS24 runways to match each of the horoscope's star signs with the new season trend that's best suited to its personality traits.
ARIES (March 21 – April 19)
Fiery Aries are natural trendsetters. Embrace the bold hues of spring's hottest colour trend, seen on the runways at Valentino and Isabel Marant, with a statement piece in eye-catching red. A flowy scarlet slip for a spring wedding guest dress or a colour pop in the form of sleek crimson accessories will channel your inner trailblazer.
TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)
Taurus craves luxury and comfort, and the high-rise trouser trend seen at Loewe, Moschino and Louis Vuitton perfectly combines the two. From office to date night, there are a hundred ways to style them; you can pair them with a button-down shirt for an elegant look, or go for a cropped cardigan for something a little cosier but still chic.
GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)
What better trend for a playful and imaginative Gemini than maximalism? Embrace the more is more aesthetic with a mix of prints, textures, and exaggerated silhouettes like we saw from JW Anderson and Bottega Veneta. Try pattern clashing or mixing fabrics for a creative vibe suited to someone who wants to stand out.
CANCER (June 21 – July 22)
Cancers are sentimental and romantic. This spring, tap into your softer side with sheer white layering – like at Coperni, Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Acne. A delicate vibe that exudes ethereal elegance.
LEO (July 23 – August 22)
Make a grand entrance, like the attention-loving Leo you are, in a metallic piece that reflects your radiant personality. Metallics aren't just for Christmas – they were all over the SS24 runways of Schiaparelli, Rabanne, LaQuan Smith and Miu Miu. Dress down a silver midi skirt with an oversized graphic tee, or plump for head-to-toe shimmer to steal the spotlight.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
Virgos love efficiency and organisation, so business chic is your ideal spring uniform. Seen on the likes of Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham, mix an extreme-oversized blazer with tailored trousers for an elegant and sophisticated look. Or, lean into the business sleaze style our favourite celebs have been repping and style with something sexier, like the leather and sheer twist on the classic skirt suit Givenchy debuted.
LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)
Lovers of balance and harmony, Libras should give a polo shirt a go. The perfect mix of smart casual and oozing effortless chic, polo shirts nailed the preppy trend seen on the Gucci, Miu Miu, and The Row runways. Style with your favourite jeans for the ultimate cool-girl off-duty weekend look.
SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)
Seen at the likes of Prada, Erdem, and Givenchy, the see-through separates trend is right for mysterious Scorpios. You like a touch of intrigue, and incorporating sheer or transparent skirts into your spring wardrobe will add some delicate seduction.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)
Adventurous Sagittarius loves movement and freedom, so elevated sportswear is the trend for you. Coperni, Balenciaga and Gucci prove athleisure isn't just for working out. The chic but relaxed trend combines activewear, streetwear, and carefully considered accessories for comfort without sacrificing style that can effortlessly go from the gym to brunch with the girls.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)
Capricorns are not fazed by taking on responsibility and leadership, so embrace that power-dressing mentality this spring with all things purple. The colour of royalty, power, and ambition was seen at the Acne, Issy Miyake and Caroline Herrerra shows in all shades from lilac to magenta. Whether you prefer soft pastels or neon bright, attention-grabbing hues, the dramatic style is sure to turn heads.
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
Unconventional Aquarius should embrace their unique style with a super cool pair of micro shorts like we saw at Gucci, Max Mara and Hermès. Add an oversized leather jacket and some cowboy boots for a Beyoncé-approved Westerncore edge. Not to mention a little more coverage!
PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
While the idea of florals for spring might not be groundbreaking (we'll take any chance to reference The Devil Wears Prada), blooms were seen all over the SS24 shows. While Simone Rocha used fresh roses between layers of tulle, Alexander McQueen opted for XL printed motifs alongside sculptural silhouettes resembling supersized petals. However you wear yours, the trend is all about creating a dreamy, feminine look AKA perfect for whimsical Pisces.
