Acclaimed composer John Williams is reversing his decision to retire.

The composer, best-known for the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Jaws scores, originally said in 2022 his last film would be Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

However, in a recent interview with The Times, Williams walked back his previous statement. “I don't care much for grand pronunciamentos, statements that are firm and finished and surrounded by closed doors,” says Williams. “If I made one without putting it in context then I withdraw it."

So, what’s Williams working on next? While there are no projects lined up, he’s leaving the door open for any films that pique his interest.

"If a film came along that I was greatly interested in, with a schedule that I could cope with, then I wouldn't want to rule anything out,” Williams stated. “Everything is possible. All is before us. Only our limitations are holding us back. Or, to put it more simply: I like to keep an open mind."

Williams might not be working on any films currently, but he’s keeping busy. Right now he’s on a European conducting tour, composing new music, and is planning to guest-conducting in Berlin in 2025.

Maybe Williams is coming back to work on the Billy Dee Williams-teased Star Wars project?
