Billy Dee Williams Teases Star Wars Project

There’s something exciting brewing for Star Wars fans. And it isn’t Ahsoka, The Acolyte, Rebel Moon, or even John Boyega ranking his Star Wars movies. It’s the suggestion a new Disney+ series about Lando Calrissian is ramping into production, as teased by Lando himself, Billy Dee Williams.

Today, Williams took to Twitter and teased “that something truly magnificent is coming soon.”

The actor continued, “This is a dream come true for me, on all that has sustained and carried me through a lifetime of dreams and adventure, it is my honor to share with you. Make sure to enable notifications for stories and posts to stay in the loop, you don't want to miss this.”

Now, this could be any project Williams is talking about here. Let’s not forget, he also appeared as Harvey Dent in 1989’s Batman, and to a lesser extent, with Sly Stallone in 1981’s Nighthawks. But with Williams signing off his tweet with “May the Force be with you all,” there’s little ambiguity.

As previously reported, Lando is a prequel starring Donald Glover as a younger Lando. It’s been in development for around three years, but as per Williams’ tweet, it seems to be finally getting a move on. Hopefully that means we don't have to keep asking what’s happening with that Lando series on Disney+?

Although, this does raise a different question. If the show stars a younger Lando in Glover, how can the older Lando also be in it? Maybe Williams is acting as narrator, or maybe the entire show is told as a flashback from his perspective.

Whatever the case, we’ll be waiting a while yet because Lando has no release date. The next big Star Wars saga, Ahsoka, releases on Disney+ August 23.
