Halloween always falls on Oct. 31, but for some reason, I always wait until the very last minute to pull together a costume as if I didn’t know the exact date of the holiday.
The “Uber of beauty services,” Glamsquad, is offering two Halloween packages to help people who rush at the eleventh hour to win Halloween. For $125, a pro will dress you up with false eyelashes and work their makeup brushes in an array of shadows to “complement your sexy, glamorous, or dramatic costume.” If you want to go all out and really impress your friends, opt for the $200 deal. This includes custom face painting such as a sugar skull or the comic-book version of Wonder Woman.
This year, I decided to channel my inner royalty and transform into Cleopatra. I borrowed a blunt bob wig from the Yahoo Lifestyle beauty closet and added a necklace as a headdress. Then I topped one of my favorite Zara dresses with a collar from a Halloween store and cinched it at the waist using my mother’s vintage gold belt. Temporary Flash Tattoos replaced heavy bracelets as my jewelry.
Glamsquad director of makeup artistry Kelli J. Bartlett completed my look with bold brows, gold lipstick, and even an Egyptian hieroglyphic-inspired eye detail. The best part? She used vibrant shadows from palettes I already have at home!
