Southern California has some of the best brunch spots in America, Yelp says
Looking for a special place to have brunch on Mother’s Day? Several SoCal eateries have you covered.
According to Yelp, which released their Top 100 Brunch Spots in the U.S. list for 2024 on Friday, eight of the top 100 restaurants to eat brunch in the nation are right here in Southern California.

That includes Yelp’s second-best place to get brunch in America: Immigrant Son Caffe in Ventura. The restaurant is known for their signature breakfast lasagna and other Italian family recipes made with local ingredients.
Finishing eighth on the list was Breezy, located in San Juan Capistrano. Guests can “taste the sunrise” with the restaurant and lounge’s brunch menu while enjoying the creations of Breezy’s team of food connoisseurs.
The next SoCal establishment on the list of top 100 American brunch spots is Toast Murrieta, which finished 14th. The restaurant, which also has a location in Temecula, offers made-from-scratch craft food, coffees and teas as well as craft beer and unique cocktails for brunch, which is served until 3 p.m. daily.

Continuing down the list, The Wild Chive in Long Beach ranked as SoCal’s fourth-best brunch spot and America’s 27th-best. The Wild Chive, which used to have a pop-up at MADE Long Beach and many farmers’ markets – offers globally inspired vegan soul food that has “no boundaries [and colors] outside the lines.”
Another highly ranked brunch spot that calls Southern California home is Acapulco Restaurant & Cantina in Costa Mesa. One of four locations throughout the Southland, Acapulco – which came in at 39th place on Yelp’s list – offers traditional Mexican food and drinks in addition to a Saturday breakfast menu and a Sunday brunch menu.
Besides Costa Mesa, Acapulco has locations in Glendale, Downey and Long Beach.

Also on the list of enticing brunch options is Bacari in Playa del Rey, which finished 44th on America’s top brunch spots list. Another establishment with multiple SoCal locations, Bacari PDR has a large brunch menu in addition to their dinner menu, which includes hot and cold dishes, pizza and special desserts.
Bacari has locations in the Los Angeles neighborhoods of West Adams, Silver Lake, Beverly Grove, Sherman Oaks and Glendale.
The 49th-best brunch spot in America – and seventh-best in SoCal – is Tata’s Cafe in Hawthorne, which serves memorable breakfast dishes with great coffee. Tata’s Cafe also has a well-organized takeout ordering process where they specially pack meals to ensure quality; orders can be placed online or over the phone.

Anaheim’s 8th Haus Cafe also cracked Yelp’s Top 100 Brunch Spots, finishing 87th; the eatery’s Instagram page depicts dishes like mushroom toast and strawberry waffles for brunch, which they say is “a wonderful excuse to drink early.”
