Greg Minnaar is practically synonymous with mountain biking in his home country of South Africa. Greg has been racing at the pointy end of World Cups for over 20 years.

Watch Minnaar ride the Pietermaritzburg World Cup track with fellow South African downhill pro Stefan Garlicki below.

In this video, Garlicki chased Minnaar down the track at Pietermaritzburg. At 42 years old, Greg still has the pace.

That track has the distinction of holding the first World Cup ever held in South Africa. In fact, Greg was integral in helping get the World Cup to travel to his home trails.

Minnaar won the first-ever World Cup held there. A few years later, he won the World Championships on the track. The slopes of Pietermaritzburg are special for the GOAT of downhill.

Stefan Garlicki is another big name in South African racing. He suffered a terrible crash in a World Cup in 2018 and broke his pelvis and his femur. Despite this, he clawed his way back to the World Cup.

Pietermaritzburg has a special place in South Africa. It is only fitting that two riders who are similarly important film an edit down the track.
