Sophie Turner's divorce from Joe Jonas has taken a new turn.

The Game of Thrones alum filed a lawsuit against the singer in New York City on Thursday, Sept. 21, according to court documents obtained by The Messenger.

She alleges that beginning on Sept. 20, Jonas has been unlawfully keeping their children in New York instead of allowing her to take them with her back to England, citing the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

The documents explain that the "objectives of the Convention are to secure the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained in any Contracting State, and to ensure that 'rights to custody' under the law of one Contracting State are effectively respected in other Contracting States."

It's stated that in April 2023, the family decided that England would be their "permanent home" and had already discussed raising the children in the UK, including which schools they would attend. In the suit, Turner also claims that the Jonas Brothers member refused to give her their daughters' passports after agreeing to let the kids return to England with Turner the week of Sept. 17.

Turner and Jonas share two children, Willa, 3, and another daughter whose name they haven't shared, who was born in July 2022. Divorce documents revealed that the youngest's initials are D.J., but did not share her full name.

The news comes two days after Turner was photographed linking arms with Jonas' ex Taylor Swift, which the pop star's fans believed was a reference to her song "Vigilante S--t."

Jonas filed for divorce on Sept. 5, claiming that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken." He asked for "shared parental responsibility" with Turner and for a "parenting plan" to be established.

In the same lawsuit, Turner notes that she found out about the divorce through the media, adding that the breakdown of her marriage "happened very suddenly."
