'Skelly' is back! Home Depot has Halfway to Halloween sale with 12-foot skeleton, new items

Home Depot launched its first-ever "Halfway to Halloween" sale featuring its wildly popular 12' skeleton, and some new friends.

Did you miss out on getting one of Home Depot's 12-foot skeleton yard decorations last Halloween your neighbor had that peeks over his roof and keeps getting in the news? How early is too early for Halloween merchandise, anyway?

"To meet extraordinarily high demand, we’re launching Skelly earlier than ever to ensure Halloween superfans have multiple chances to purchase the cultural phenomenon," Home Depot spokesperson Georgia Lyman said in an email to USA TODAY.

Skelly crawled out of his eternal resting place for the building materials and home decor chain's first-ever "Halfway to Halloween" sale and he brought some new equally massive skeletal friends. This special deal dropped Thursday with these creepy limited items from its 2024 Halloween selection including:

  • "Skelly," the 12-foot-high skeleton which the company says is "new and improved" this year with realistic moving eyes ($299)

  • Skelly's Dog, a 7-foot-long skeletal pooch with animated LCD eyes ($199)

  • Giant-sized Inferno Deadwood Skeleton, a dark 12-and-a-half foot skeleton with a spooky color-changing glow ($379)

  • Frankenstein's Monster: A 7-foot animated creature.

"For our superfans, Halloween is a yearlong journey to find the absolute best décor for the month of October, which is why we’re hosting our Halfway to Halloween sale this spring," Lyman said, "presenting fan-favorites and new innovations to add to collections and haunt homes nationwide."

Halfway to Halloween events: Scary Disney marathon, burlesque, Spirit Halloween contest and more

The sale was teased Wednesday on social media and then announced Thursday morning. Customers have already commented that some items quickly sold out in their areas. Products also are available online while supplies last.

"The dog sold out in 2 mins!!!" one person said. "I’m bummed I was filling out my address and then all the sudden couldn’t complete bc it was gone"

Home Depot has said it plans to continue releasing decorations through the year so if you miss these, keep checking.
