At 58, Shania Twain is celebrating the next chapter of her career with a Las Vegas residency. The Timmins, Ont. native has been working on getting stronger than ever to perform her elaborate show, which features a 21 song set list and four costume changes.

In an interview with The Sun, Twain said she's following a strict diet and exercise regime, but won't be having any major surgeries anytime soon to turn back the clock.

“I decided that wherever there was a mirror and I was naked in my house or hotel, that I would keep the lights on and I would look in the mirror," she said, adding that it's "a shame" people don't want to look at themselves naked at they age.

“Every month or day that I may notice another sag or another bit of cellulite, I want to know it’s there," she said. Twain said she has no plans to change how she looks "superficially." The "Come On Over" singer said her 2018 surgery on her larynx was "necessary."

"A surgery that is not necessary for my wellbeing is removing my cellulite," she explained. "What is necessary is knowing that it is there and not hating myself for it. I have to take myself on the stage without feeling like I have to cover myself up. I want to feel liberated.”

This isn't the first time the country star has spoken publicly about aging. Here are some of her best quotes below.

Although she shot to superstardom as a brunette, Twain has been mixing up her look in recent years. In a recent interview with Haute Living, the singer admitted that she began experimenting with her hair through wigs because she was going grey —but unexpectedly loved when her hair was pink.

"It’s the way I feel when I have that colour on. It makes me feel youthful. I don’t need to look younger in my own mind — it’s not a goal of mine — but I do like to feel refreshed, and the pink hair does that. It’s awesome," she said.

Twain said she feels a certain freedom to take chances with her look now that she's older.

“I’m getting less and less inhibited as I age,” she told the magazine. “I like to do goofy things. Outside of experimenting with hair colour, I would say that I enjoy being fearless — nothing really scares me. I’m not worried about wearing a hair colour and not pulling it off. I’m not worried about the backlash… even in my own mirror. There’s no wrong thing to experiment with. You’ve just got to have fun — and being playful makes me feel more youthful.”

In a 2023 interview with Yahoo Canada, Twain spoke about the journey to regaining her voice. Twain said after contracting Lyme disease in 2003 there were many years where the disease called her voice to fail. In 2011, she underwent two open-throat procedures to where Gore-Tex rods were inserted to stabilize her throat.

"I have to sing differently now. But I love it. I'm loving the way I'm singing," she said.

In addition to learning to accept the changes to her voice, Twain also had to learn to embrace changes to her body.

"I wear clothes differently now because my body is different," Twain shared. "As a 25-year-old, I wouldn't want to look in the mirror."

Twain said she changed her style to help her feel more confident and adopted a new relationship with fashion.

"All of the challenges that I've faced — from Lyme to body image — have all taken the same thing," she said. "To conquer it, it's all about a determination to carry on."

In January, Twain spoke to TODAY hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hagar about the freedom she feels after accepting the fact that she "can't slow the process of aging."

"I was shy about wearing a bikini on the beach when I was younger," she explained. "And I'm thinking, that was ridiculous, I gotta stop this nonsense and start wearing a bikini to the beach now even though I'm not my 20-year-old self."

Twain said she was "petrified" to do a nude photoshoot for her 2022 album "Waking Up Dreaming" but wanted to push herself towards accepting her body.

"It had to be vulnerable where I felt that I was facing a fear of being judged or being maybe even laughed at, being embarrassed, but it was only empowering," she said. "It was really fabulous."

In a Feb. 2023 photoshoot for InStyle, Twain relished the opportunity to try on avant-garde looks that one typically wouldn't associate with a country superstar.

"I love it. I'm so up for it. I'm so ready for it. I'm way more fearless than I would've been. Years ago, I would've been more conscientious about, 'Is this too over-the-top?'" Twain told the magazine. "I'm more adventurous now and I'm just excited about what is new and what I can experiment with. I just love fashion for that. Just when you think there's nothing left to be created, somebody creates something new. I'm so inspired by that. When you can transform a living person just by putting something on, it's spectacular."
