Shakira Puts a Youthful Spin on the Little Black Dress With Stiletto Booties

Shakira is riding the high of her newest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which has already become the most streamed album of the year so far.

Monday night, she stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat about the project and her life these days. Of working, she told Fallon, “I didn’t have time because of the husband factor. Now I’m husband-less. The husband was dragging me down. Now I’m free. Now I can actually work.”

For the occasion, Shakira looked cool in a black minidress from Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2009 ready-to-wear collection. The mini was strapless, with a pronounced sweetheart neckline and an uneven hem. Covering the piece were silver studs of different sizes—the smaller of which were arranged in the form of crosses, skulls, and other swirling shapes.

The Colombian singer paired the statement LBD with black leather stiletto ankle boots, some silver rings, and a sparkly pink eye shadow. Her blonde hair was styled in her signature messy waves.

While sitting with Fallon, she explained the title of her new album, which translates in English to Women No Longer Cry. “For too long, we’ve been sent to cry with script in our hands and without an end, just because we’re women. We have to conceal our pain in front of our kids, in front of society. We have to heal in a certain way,” she said. “And I don’t think anyone is supposed to tell us how to heal. No one is supposed to tell a she wolf how to lick her wounds, you know? I think that now women decide when to cry, how to cry, and until when. Nobody’s supposed to tell us how to cope with the hardship of life.”
