See St. Joseph: Being mindful in the past and present

May 16—This weekend, St. Joseph will be exploring the past and celebrating the present. Whether you're looking to dance or duel, we've got it all waiting for you here at home in this week's edition of See St. Joseph.

In St. Joseph, when the weather starts to get warm, the town gets loud with the return of the Sounds of Summer concert series.

On Friday, May 17, head down to Coleman Hawkins Park at 6:30 p.m. to help the St. Joseph Downtown Association's 26th anniversary season start with a bang. Blue Oyster Culture Club will be playing '80s hits, Longboards and The Enchilada Lady will be serving up fresh food and the beer tent will be stocked and open. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating, though dancing is always strongly encouraged. This is a free concert, so why not start the summer off with some good music and company?

In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, Ricky Dean's is taking its own steps to be mindful with its Mental Health Awareness Night. The event aims to highlight the wealth of mental health resources available in St. Joseph while fostering community awareness. Guests can look forward to activities such as bracelet making, face painting, informative resources, a 30-minute yoga session with Evolve Studio and more. It's an opportunity to have some fun while also learning about taking care of your mental health and helping others. The night begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, at 3620 N. Village Drive.
