Sea Of Stars DLC Is In The Works

The smash hit indie RPG Sea of Stars has been brilliantly received by critics and fans, and its massive success means that developer Sabotage Studio is only getting started. The indie developer has revealed that DLC for the game is in the works, and it’s got a clever strategy for working on it.

In an interview with Radio Canada, as reported by GamesRadar, Sea of Stars director Thierry Boulanger said that DLC is currently in development for the game. Much like with previous Sabotage The Messenger, a small crew will work on DLC for the game, while most staff at the studio will work on the next big thing, which is a pretty good way to keep the machine well-oiled and deliver more content to players.

Sabotage previously promised DLC as part of its Kickstarter campaign, and said that the DLC would be free to all backers. The DLC is said to be called “Throes of The Watchmaker,” and is supposed to “expand even more on the world of Sea of Stars,” with a small hint that it might make clear some of the connections between Sea of Stars and The Messenger, which take place in the same universe.

Sea of Stars got off to a smashing start late last month, selling over 100,000 copies in just one day. It was praised for its storytelling, graphics, and deep homages to classic RPGs like Chrono Trigger and Golden Sun.

Those monster sales are in addition to Sea of Stars launching on both Game Pass and PS Plus, the very first game to do so. Between those two services, players on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC all don’t have to pay full price for the game. Nintendo Switch players miss out though, since the Nintendo Switch Online service doesn’t include modern games, instead focusing on retro titles.
