Schweitzer Mountain, ID, Shares Photos Of Its First, Retro Season Passes
It's time to take a trip into the past.
Earlier this week, Schweitzer Mountain, Idaho, shared a fascinating tidbit of ski resort lore: its first season passes.

Schweitzer shared the original pass in honor of its 60th birthday. The resort first opened to the public with its first lift on December 4, 1963.
The ensuing 60 years saw a flurry of development—new lifts, condos—the whole nine yards. The latest significant moment in Schweitzer's history was its purchase by the Alterra Mountain Company in August 2023.
In moments like these I'm reminded of how much skiing has changed in a relatively short window of time. We've got eight-person high-speed chairlifts, Gore-Tex out the wazoo, AI resort assistants, and backcountry bindings barely bigger than erasers.
Seasons passes haven't escaped the march of time, either. With the ongoing launch of Epic's digital pass program, they're poised to evolve beyond the physical realm. We've come a long way from laminated paper and single-seaters.
