Save money when you bring your used car seat to a Target store

Parents, if you haven't done your spring cleaning yet, now's the time to get rid of that old car seat.

Target is bringing back its car seat trade-in program soon, where old car seats and other items earn participants a 20% store discount toward a new one. Here's what we know:

The Target car seat trade-in program requests donations of old car seats in exchange for a store discount toward a new one, according to the retailer. Participants receive a 20% bonus for car seats, strollers and select baby home gear.

Participants of the Target car seat trade-in program will receive a 20% discount, valid from April 14 to May 11, for select items, including car seats, booster seats, strollers and more. It can be applied to in-store and online purchases, combined with other item offers and is redeemable twice.

How the Target car seat trade-in program works

Participants can drop off old car seats and eligible items at the designated box inside their local Target and use the Target app to scan the QR code on top of the box before clicking "Add to Target Circle Bonus." The discount will appear in the Wallet of the Target app until it's used twice or expired. Reach out to Guest Services for help.

When did Target start the car seat trade-in program?

Target began the car seat trade-in program in 2016. Since then, 2.6 million car seats, or around 39 million pounds of car seat material, have been recycled.
