What San Diego beach has fire pits?

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Looking to catch the sunset while sitting in front of a fire at one of San Diego’s beaches?

According to the city, beach fires can only be built in city provided fire rings or contained within a portable propane-fueled device. Personal wood burning fire pits are not permitted.

As for the city fire rings, only charcoal, clean wood or paper can be burned. City officials have asked the public not to burn pallets or trash.

5 San Diego beaches for sunset bonfires

Fire rings are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the following city beaches, according to the city’s information page:

Shoreline Parks

— La Jolla Shores: There are seven available in the summer months only.

— Mission Beach (Belmont Park): There are five available in the summer months only.

— South Mission Beach : There are 11 total with seven of them only available in the summer months.

— Ocean Beach: There are nine available in the summer months only.

West Mission Bay

— Mission Point: There is one available year-round.

— Bonita Cove: There are five available year-round.

— Mariner’s Point: There are eight available year-round.

— Ventura Cove: There are nine available year-round.

Dana Inn area

— Sunset Park: There are three available year-round.

— Dana Landing: There are two available year-round.

Vacation Isle

— Vacation Isle (southside): There are 12 available year-round.

— Vacation Isle (North Cove): There are four available year-round.

— Ski Beach: There are 13 available year-round.

Crown Point

— Crown Point Shores: There are 17 available year-round.

According to city regulations, no beach fires are allowed between midnight and 5 a.m.
