Sam Heughan's Celebratory Selfie With 'Outlander' Co-Star Caitriona Balfe Delights Fans

The SAG-AFTRA strike is officially over, meaning actors and other union members can finally get back to work—and Outlander fans are loving Sam Heughan's celebratory Instagram post.

On Thursday, Nov. 9, the 43-year-old Scottish star took to his grid to share a handful of behind-the-scenes photos from recent projects. "The strike is over!!" he captioned the Instagram post. "Delighted to be able to work, promote and talk about Acting again."

In the featured image, Heughan smiles next to his Outlander co-star, Caitriona Balfe, while dressed in-character as Jaime Fraser and Claire Fraser, respectively. The photo is likely from Season 7 of the popular series, as Part 1 wrapped up on Aug. 11. (Part 2 will premiere in 2024.)

Although the first few episodes of Outlander's latest installment dropped ahead of the strike, Heughan and his cast mates have been unable to share behind-the-scenes peeks since July 14. Outlander fans enthusiastically took to the comments section to express their excitement and to welcome back Heughan.

One Instagram user wrote, "Thank you for blessing us with a Caitríona picture 😍."

Another declared, "Finally some OL content ❤️."

Meanwhile, someone else commented, "Looking forward to hearing about ALL of your projects, Sam. And memeing all of your new behind-the-scenes photos! Welcome back 🙌."

Yet another Instagram user wrote, "That's fantastic news, Sam! I can't wait to hear you all talking about your work again, and I'm SO MUCH looking forward to seeing and hearing news and pics from the set of Outlander! I'm so happy for all the actors out there."

More photos in Heughan's carousel gave nods to other recent and upcoming projects. In one shot, the actor flaunts his dwarf makeover in New Zealand, as shown on his series Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham (McTavish).

Another image shows Heughan posing with his The Couple Next Door co-stars, Eleanor Tomlinson, Jessica De Gouw and Alfred Enoch.

In another behind-the-scenes post, he posed with a prop pistol as a phone, writing, "'Outlander calling……' Did you watch the Season 7 midway finale??? 🎩 💥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🫣."

Hopefully, Heughan will continue offering fans glimpses of himself and Outlander co-stars as they filmed Season 7 of the beloved Starz series—and as they gear up for the final eighth installment, which may not drop until 2025.
