Sacramento Shelter's Adoption Story of 4 Dogo Argentino Puppies Is a Wake-Up Call

If you're anything like me, your heart melts every time you meet or see a video of a shelter dog. No matter their breed, sex, age, or history, it truly tugs at my heartstrings to see a loving dog waiting at a shelter for someone to love them back.

In this case, four innocent puppies were looking for their forever homes at Sacramento's SPCA. The sweet Dogo Argentino babies couldn't be sweeter as a shelter worker approaches for a video, so it's no surprise that they were adopted in a matter of days.

Still, these rescue puppies' story sheds light on a problem that's much bigger than it seems on the surface. As animal shelters around the nation are overcrowded and understaffed, breeding isn't stopping anytime soon.

How precious are these little ones? They're so energetic and excited that I can barely keep track of how many pups are in the kennel. If @sacramento_spca hadn't mentioned that there were only 4 puppies, I'd have thought there were at least 6!

"Is this a 5-minute Reel or did I just watch this a million times?" asked commenter @mrsgriff1n. It's definitely the latter! I found myself watching this video over and over again, too--that's the power of these white puppies' cuteness! Fortunately, that very same power got all 4 dogs adopted, too. As of September 5, they're all in their forever homes!

Still, the bigger picture reveals a problem in the Sacramento area. @Ashleym29 shared, "I just want to scream. We just rescued an entire little of Dogo pups from this area 2 weeks ago, and a few months back a breeder dumped a female Dogo on the street after having puppies, and I picked her up. Dogo breeding is out of control in Sacramento right now."

I had no idea! Then again, who would? This is why it's so important to talk about the consequences of dog breeding versus adopting, especially when it comes to specific breeds. With a little research and patience, you can find just about any dog breed through a rescue!
