Catholic Charities honored eight angels at a dinner dance marking its 40 years of service to the five counties comprising the Diocese of Palm Beach.

The ruby anniversary Caritas Dei Bishop's Gala took place Jan. 23 at The Breakers.

Amy Acierno and Karmita Gusmano were chairwomen for the event, which began with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction in the Mediterranean Room.

After cocktails, the crowd moved to the Venetian Ballroom for dinner and recognition of the night's awardees.

Honored with the Bishop's Charity Medal were Connie M. Frankino, chairwoman emeritus Marietta Muiña McNulty and chairwoman Gusmano along with her late husband, Charles.

Emilia and J. Pepe Fanjul and Raysa and Alfonso Fanjul received the Caritas Dei Award. Carol Spencer and Judi Rutt were given Caritas Spiritus Sanctus Awards and the Rev. Albert A. Dello Russo received the Critas Christi Award.

The night continued with a live auction, call to the heart and dancing.

James Borynack was honorary chairman.

The gala also served as a kickoff Catholic Charities' Guardians of Hope Campaign.
