The royal wedding decor has a sweet tribute to Princess Diana
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made it clear from the very start that they wanted to honor the memory of his late mother, Princess Diana, on their wedding day.
And there was a beautiful reminder of the royal, and one of the things she loved most, at the entrance to St. George’s Chapel.
Lining the main doorway to the church was a floral arch decorated with a range of white blooms, including Diana’s particular favorite, the white rose.
The couple’s chosen florist, Philippa Craddock, has been sure to prominently include white garden roses in many of the wedding arrangements, along with the seasonal branches of beech, birch, and hornbeam paired with Markle’s personal favorite, peonies.
White garden roses were the exact flower used to decorate Princess Diana’s own wedding to Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charles.
They later became a symbol of the princess and were planted — using the mulch of flowers laid by mourners after her death — to create the memorial White Garden in Kensington Palace.
