Rider Finds A Little Slice Of The PNW In New Hampshire

One of the most popular riding destinations in the world is the Pacific Northwest. Trails from Oregon up through British Columbia are famous for their iconic rock slabs.

Watch a New England-based YouTuber Jonathan Emery of Project Northeast find PNW-style trails in New Hampshire.

In this video, Emery descended an amazing hillside of rock slabs in Southern New Hampshire. In his caption, he said that his goal was to turn New England into a PNW-like rock slab paradise.

As someone who has lived in both locations, I feel qualified to speak on this. In the PNW and especially BC, much of the land people build on is earmarked for logging. On land where the managers only care about the health of their trees, it is easier to get things done.

In the east, a higher population density and far higher amount of privately owned land make it harder for riders to sanction gnarlier features, and private landowners care more about rogue building.

With that said, there has been an explosion of amazing riding destinations in New England thanks to hard work by trail advocates. Hopefully, with more advocacy, the East will see more slab trails.
