Enter Oprah Daily’s first annual Sleep Awards: 50 tried-and-tested picks (from mattresses and pillows to eye masks and pajamas) that will help you drift off in dreamy comfort, catch your precious REM, and wake up revitalized and ready to take on the world.

How We Tested

Oprah Daily editors spent many moons snuggling in bedding, fluffing pillows, spritzing lavender mists, and rotating sleep masks and pajamas. We compared and analyzed fabrications, weaves, and fillings and vetted comfort and support levels, temp-regulation, smart design, and durability. Some of these winners have been our favorites for years. Others are new “How did I sleep without these?” essentials. And they’re all the stuff of dreams.

Classic Mattress

Comfort and support? This wonder gives you the best of both worlds. “I have been sleeping on it for the past six years, and it’s a game changer,” says Oprah Daily creative director Adam Glassman. The pillow top has special lumbar quilting, the middle has high-density memory foam to ensure spine alignment, and the coil unit at the base is made of uber durable tempered steel to prevent sagging. “I had struggled to find a mattress in the past because of some back issues,” Glassman adds. “This one is not too hard or soft, and my spine stays aligned with my neck. If you suffer from back issues, your mattress should, well, have your back. But they asked all the right questions, so I was confident about my purchase,” says Carter. We swear by the relaxing power of a pre-snooze soak, especially when it contains a splash of this frothy, magnesium-infused milk to ease stress and sore limbs. The lavender and chamomile scent contributes to the serenity. “I was so relaxed after trying this I could barely make it to my bed,” Sandoval Box says.

Magnesium Oil Spray

“I discovered this at a wellness spa years ago, and have kept it stocked on my bedside table ever since,” Glassman says. “It’s quick and easy to spray and it absorbs quickly.” To ensure purity, the mineral is drawn from two miles beneath the ancient Zechstein seabed (which stretches from the east coast of the UK to Poland).

Sleepy Body Lotion

“I prefer my lavender in lotion form—that way, I get zen vibes and no-itch skin in one luxurious move,” Sandoval Box says. “This smells especially delicious and cozy.” The formula also contains fair-trade organic cocoa butter, oat milk, and almond oil to leave skin hydrated and soothed.

Deeper Sleep Cream

“Sleep is not usually my friend, so I am willing to try any and all natural products to prepare me for bed. On nights I rub this cream into the soles of my feet, I really do feel more well-rested when I wake up—and, bonus, I have smoother feet, too,” Glassman says. It contains hydrators like coconut oil and aloe, plus essential oils like lavender, chamomile, valerian, black spruce, and vetiver.
