Rescuer Shares Emotional Tribute to Senior Pup Who Gave Her 436 Days of the 'Best Memories'

Pet loss is its own kind of heartbreak. But sadly that's the fate for so many senior dogs out there facing the end. An animal rescuer from Charlotte, North Carolina vowed to save one senior dog from being euthanized, and ended up giving the both of them memories to last a lifetime.

Chrissy has the biggest heart when it comes to animals. She's trying her best to take in and care for the animals most in need. Four hundred and thirty-six days ago, one of those animals was a dog named Seymour.

The dog rescuer said her final goodbye to Seymour in a video that's since gone viral.

"Taken to the shelter at almost 18 to be euthanized. Instead he came home and became my best friend," she wrote in the video's onscreen caption.

The video shows Seymour through several parts of his life with Chrissy. From the day she brought the Pit Bull home to the last days of his life.

"Every time I try to write this the tears flood my face," she wrote in the video's caption. "I’ve felt loss over and over in rescue. It’s something you grow to expect .. but nothing could have ever prepared my heart for the loss of you Seymour."

People in the comments section praised Chrissy for giving Seymour the best life she could. "What you did for him was so selfless and the definition of love. Thank you for giving him those 436 days of happiness and love," one commenter wrote. "The best 436 days of his life,' someone else agreed. "That was the sweetest post I have read. Thank you for giving him his dignity back, a safe place to rest his head. And THE LOVE HE DESERVES. AW. NOT CRYING," a third person gushed.

Seymour Faced Many Challenges in His Life

When Chrissy first found Seymour he had masses on his face and was about to be put down, but she knew there story was just beginning. In another video on her page, the dog rescuer explained that when she saw the senior dog she begged his former owner to let her take Seymour in.

As she recalled in the video's caption, things were looking bleak.

"I knew you were so old and sick. The owner laughed in my face and said no. I watched you cling to his leg," she wrote.

But ultimately she prevailed. She got Seymour's masses removed and cared for him for the rest of his life. Allowing him to die a natural death. The journey wasn't easy by any means, but Chrissy herself said she wouldn't have had it any other way.

"I promised you I would see you through the hardest days and we would find joy even in the hard times," she wrote. "We did it pappy Seymour, you found joy and are at peace now in Heaven."
