Rescued Turkeys' Relief After Arriving at Sanctuary Is So Beautiful to Witness

Even though the majority of people in the world are kind to animals and aware of the ways humanity endangers them, very few folks consider animal rescue outside of stereotypical pet species. But the reality is that all kinds of animals need saving!

The incredible animal rescuers at The Gentle Barn's three locations understand just how many kinds of animals need love. Their Santa Clarita, California farm recently welcomed 5 rescue turkeys who were being raised for Thanksgiving dinner, and the birds couldn't be more grateful! Watching them explore the farm sanctuary is simply magical.

I never thought I'd say that I'm tearing up at the sight of turkeys, but alas--here I am. Their sweet reactions are just so pure and joyful!

Welcome home, turkeys! It's so clear by the smiles on everyone's faces that @thegentlebarn is thrilled to have these new additions at the farm. They're taking the proper precautions and keeping them quarantined for 30 days, but it won't be long until they're running free on the pasture with the rest of the turkey flock. We'll admit--they make raising turkeys look so easy and fun!

"This is beautiful and made me tear up," gushed commenter @jeanousse_sol. "I wish more people were like this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving these precious souls." She isn't the only one feeling touched by this rescue farm's work! This video has nearly 1,000 comments, and it's safe to say that people are talking about this rescue. After all, it's not every day that one gets to see a group of turkeys getting a whole new lease on life.

And remember, these aren't wild turkeys. These young birds were bred specifically for Thanksgiving, so this unexpected turn of events quite literally saved their lives.

People may not think much of these birds aside from Thanksgiving, but the Humane Society of the United States explains that turkeys are both smart and affectionate. They're social creatures who form bonds with loved ones, so this group rescue likely means even more to the rescue turkeys than we even thought. What's important is that they're home now!
