Rescue Cow Gets His First Christmas Gift Ever and It’s Heartwarming

Many animals who have been rescued have never experienced much joy. That includes not only the pleasure of playing with toys but also a warm place to sleep and delicious food.

The Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in Stone Ridge, New York, shared a video, posted on December 22, of one of their rescue cows named Heathcliff, who had never experienced Christmas. He was gifted with his first Christmas gift, a bale of hay, and the result is an absolute joy to watch. Take a look.

Aww! There's a reason why cows are called grass puppies. Look at how playful and happy he is!

Fun Facts About Cows

Although cows like to run around in the fields, just like puppies, they actually spend about 10 hours a day lying down but can also sleep while standing.

They also don't like to be alone, as they're very social animals who love attention.

Cows love to eat, in particular grass or hay. They eat about five bales of hay during the winter, which they chew up to 8 hours a day. That's about 40–50 times a minute, moving their jaw an estimated 40,000 times a day.

And they don't even have any upper front teeth! (They have 32 teeth in total.) It's truly fascinating.

Cows also have an intense sense of smell and can roll their eyes about 360 degrees, like a fly. They can even see color! However, they don't see well straight and often have to turn their heads to look at you.

One thing's for sure, if you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with one of these love bugs, don't hesitate! It's bound to be a rewarding experience you'll cherish forever.
