My Rescue Cat Loves Being 'Vacuumed' So Much, He Makes 'Air Biscuits'

We have an orange cat named Tarkus. Before we get into it, yes, my husband named him, and yes, my husband is a huge Emerson, Lake, and Palmer fan. Tarkus was adopted as a kitten about 10 years ago from our local Humane Society and as most orange cats are, he has always been the most chill and affectionate kitty ever.

He loves French Fries, jumping up on kitchen counters, and pretty much anyone who owns a hairbrush.

Yep, as soon as he hears the bathroom drawer open, or someone rummages in their handbag, here comes Tarkus demanding to be brushed. It doesn't matter what it is, cat grooming brush, human hairbrush, comb.. It all belongs to him. So as one of those devoted pet parents who always wants to make their cat happy, and as one of those pet parents pretty annoyed with always having to have a lint roller on hand due to the amount this cat sheds, I did what any normal person would do, I bought a pet vacuum.

Excuse me, a pet grooming device. But it's basically a cat vacuum. As soon as we got it we hooked it up we approached Tarkus who was napping on our bed with the hose and brush attachment. Bad move. He hid under the bed and refused to come out for a day. We soon figured out that we could use it without turning it on and he loved it, and then when he was used to it without the noise, we turned that sucker on. And just look at him.

The air biscuits! Have you ever seen a happier cat? He loves this thing and now we all basically fight over who gets to vacuum him. All he has to do is see us bring the machine out and he's purring. The bonus is this device actually does remove a ton of cat hair so we have noticed he's shedding a lot less. Here's another clip of him with his favorite appliance.

He's just the happiest boy ever.

Now, this device doesn't work on all of my pets. The dog runs away from it, our other rescue cat wants nothing to do with it, and we have yet to try it on our Maine Coon 'Meatball' yet - which we really should because he's still at the age where he tolerates most things, and the younger you can introduce your cat to grooming, the better.

Especially because Meatball will require all the grooming once his fur comes in.

I don't know if you're on the same shedding pet struggle bus as we are, but the exact vacuum we purchased is now out of stock. However there are many other variations on Amazon with different attachments and clippers and all those other things to make your cat or dog look fabulous.

We all love our pets more than anything, but we also all have to admit that they can be some smelly, messy, shed-dy things, so anything I can do to minimize the cat fur is a win in my book.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go vacuum my cat.
