Red Lobster closing: Try these Memphis seafood restaurants instead
Red Lobster on Winchester has officially shut its doors, but this doesn't mean there is no more seafood to be had in town.
Memphis has a great number of seafood restaurants, so we complied a few to help fill the void of Red Lobster. There is still the Red Lobster location in Cordova, but for those that don't want to make the drive, there are options close to home.
To find potential Red Lobster substitutes, we looked at restaurants with similar menu items at similar price points in or near the location that shut down. Here is what we found.

Tasting Table, an online food magazine, made a list ranking the best dishes from Red Lobster. It ranked the top 18 dishes, and these were the top ten:

Seafood restaurants in Memphis similar to Red Lobster
While Memphis is not next to any oceans, there is a large presence of seafood restaurants in town. We based the restaurants below on the menu items above and their price points.
Bluff City Crab
Bluff City Crab's menu is simple but that doesn't mean you should dismiss it. To order, you pick from veggies, shrimp, crab or a combination of the three. From there, you can add sides like lobster tail, andouille sausage, corn, potatoes and more. Choose your seasoning and any heat you want to add to the food, and you're done.

Cajun King Seafood & Grill
The Cajun King has a menu meant to fill. Orders of any seafood guarantees at least a half pound of food along with sides like corn, garlic bread, potatoes and more. Seafood options include crawfish, mussels, shrimp and snow crab.

Half Shell
While the Half Shell isn't exactly known as a seafood restaurant, it does have a variety of seafood to offer. From appetizers like lobster and shrimp bruschetta, baja seafood nachos and southern style crabcakes to entrees like crawfish pasta, shrimp and grits, and fried shrimp and catfish, there are many options for the seafood seeker.

The Juicy Crab
The Juicy Crab has menu items like shrimp, mussels, crawfish, lobster tail, oysters, whiting, tilapia and clams. Not to mention it has four kinds of crab to choose from: blue crab, snow crab, king crab and dungeness crab.

Red Hook Cajun & Seafood Bar
Red Hook's menu contains items like lobster tail, snow crab, blue crab, king crab, dungeness crab, scallops and clam chowder for seafood lovers. All seafood items can be ordered fried or boiled, and most go on half price through nightly deals.

Red Pier Cajun & Seafood Bar
Red Pier is another version of Red Hook Cajun & Seafood Bar, so the menu items are the same. For those living in East Memphis that may want a quicker drive, this is a good option.

Soul Fish Cafe
Soul Fish doesn't have quite as many deep sea options as some of the other restaurants on the list. Most of the menu items here are from the area. Soul Fish has menu items such as catfish, red trout, salmon and shrimp for the regular dishes. There are also tacos that can have shrimp, catfish and crawfish in them.
