We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter.”

Tyler and Brittany’s separation came weeks after the premiere of Selling The OC, Netflix’s reality TV series which Tyler is a cast member on following the personal and professional lives of agents at the high-end real-estate brokerage, The Oppenheim Group, in Orange County, California. The show, which premiered in 2022, is a spin-off of Netflix’s Selling Sunset, which is set in Los Angeles, California.

Tyler became a main storyline in Selling the OC Season 1 due to his controversial and flirty behavior with several of his co-stars including Alex Hall, Polly Brindle, and Kayla Cardone, who tried to kiss him at a party while he was still married to Brittany. Tyler confirmed he was single in Selling The OC Season 2.

Why did Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow divorce?

Why did Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow divorce? Brittany filed for divorce from Tyler in January 2023, three months after they separated in September 2022. In her court documents filed at the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles, Brittany cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her and Tyler’s split. She listed their date of separation as September 14, 2022.

Tyler and Brittany finalized their divorce in June 2023. According to the court documents, Tyler and Brittany split their assets so that each keeps what was theirs, listing “no community assets” to divide. The documents also confirmed that their was a prenuptial agreement. Neither Tyler and Brittany also sought spousal support and agreed to divide their shared account 50/50 before they were closed. They agreed to keep the money that was in their separate bank accounts. They became legally single on August 11, 2023.

So why did Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow divorce? A source confirmed to Page Six in September 2022 that Selling The OC was the main reason for Tyler and Brittany’s split. “Everyone who knows Tyler and Brittany knows she wasn’t comfortable with the show,” the insider said. “That’s why he did his best to keep his marriage and the show separate, but it only backfired.” A second source added, “The show basically destroyed their marriage. Brittany was not happy with what she saw.”

A source also told Us Weekly in September 2022 after Tyler and Brittany’s separation that the two already “had issues” before their breakup.. “It was known that they had issues prior — to the extent, no one knows,” the insider said, noting that the Selling the OC cast “was pretty in the dark about their personal life” but the breakup “wasn’t a complete surprise.” The insider continued, “They were aware of there being issues, it’s just that there’s more to the story than they know.”

The insider also told Us Weekly that, while Tyler was “flirtatious” with his Selling The OC cast mates, he never cheated on Brittany with his co-stars. “He’s always been appropriate with everyone,” the source said. “No one … knows about him cheating on Brittany with another girl. That’s nothing that’s been confirmed.”

In an interview with Us Weekly in September 2022, Tyler confirmed that Brittany watched Selling The OC before it aired and knew of the storyline involving him and his co-star, Kayla Cardona, who tried to kiss him. “She watched it. I mean, she thought — like everybody else did — it’s entertaining. It’s a lot, but it’s good,” he said at the time, adding that he and Brittany made the decision a while ago “keep our professional lives separate.”

Us Weekly’s source, however, told the magazine that Tyler likely “left out details” about his flirty interactions with Kayla, as well as co-stars Alex Hall and Polly Brindle, because he didn’t know what would make it into the show. “No one from the cast knows what’s going to air out and what’s going to be edited out. It’s possible he could’ve left out those intimate details and then for her to find out from someone else, it can certainly cause tension,” the source said, adding that Brittany could “feel disrespected.” The source continued, “That’s why they’re separating — to see if this could be salvaged or not.”

In an interview with Bustle in May 2023, Brittany hinted that she was “blindsided” by her divorce from Tyler. “In the past year I went through probably the hardest mental health challenge I’ve ever faced,” she said. “In one day, in a matter of hours, my life turned completely upside down.” She continued, “I was blindsided and every thing I thought I knew, held sacred and truly trusted in my life was completely different. A couple days later my grandmother passed away and I think every thing I knew about mental health was tested.”

She added, “Thank god for my friends. I don’t know if I would have made it without them,” she said. “They reminded me who I was and the things I stood for. I used all the tools I knew. All of them.”

A source told Page Six in September 2022 that Tyler was “really happy” since his split from Brittany. “It seems like he wanted fame like Snow,” the insider said. In an interview with People in September 2023, Tyler also confirmed that he was finally “finding my feet again” after his divorce from Brittany. “It’s one of those things where time heals all wounds and you see me as I’m going through it and picking up the pieces and finding my feet again,” he said. “But luckily I had great people around me and dove into work. I think I’m still healing, in certain ways from it, but I keep saying divorce doesn’t have to be a bad thing. You learn and grow from it.”

He continued of how he was different in the second season of Selling The OC, “I definitely speak up more. I’m inherently a little more private, and I don’t want to say ‘shy,’ but I’m not necessarily the center of attention. In season 2, I definitely use my voice a bit more to both my benefit and detriment.”

Tyler also confirmed to USA Today in September 2023 that he didn’t expect his marriage to Brittany to end. “Nobody gets married to get divorced,” he said. “[But it] doesn’t have to be a negative thing. You hopefully do learn and grow because of it, and you evolve and hopefully understand yourself better because of it. It wasn’t easy. It’s still not super easy, but I’m at least to a point now where I feel like myself again and feel good, and a lot of that is thanks to the people around me.” As for what’s next, Tyler told the site, “Right now, I’m just taking it one day at a time, focusing on life and work and not overthinking everything else. Just seeing where the cards fall.”

Did Tyler Stanaland cheat on Brittany Snow with Alex Hall?

Did Tyler Stanaland cheat on Brittany Snow with Alex Hall? The answer is no, according to him. In an interview on the “Reality Life With Kate Casey” podcast in 2022, Tyler explained that his Selling The OC co-star, Kayla Cardona, trying to kiss him during Season 1 led him to “set some hard lines and some boundaries and reconsider the social environment a bit” of the show.

He also denied there was any romantic relationship between him and Hall while he was married to Brittany, despite Hall sitting on his lap and giving him her version of a wet willy. “We’re all really tight friends,” he said. “There’s a respect; no lines will ever be crossed. Most of us are married or dating somebody, so there is kind of a set boundary there.” He continued, “It’s just a funny thing to do, and we’re a very tactile, touchy-feely group. It’s nothing sexual.”

Hall, for her part, also denied a romantic relationship with Tyler while he was still married to Brittany in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2022, in which she explained that her and Tyler’s “noseys”—their version of a wet willy in which one person covers the other’s person’s nose with their mother and blows air into the receiver’s face—was completely platonic.

“Most people have never seen that before,” Hall said. “So a nosey is, it’s not a sexual act whatsoever. It started with my mom doing it to our family dog, if you will. This is how disgusting it is. And then it graduated to doing it to us, her children. Now I do it to my kids. It’s just a funny thing to do, and we’re a very tactile, touchy feely group.”

She continued, “It’s nothing sexual. You’re not like, ‘Oh, I want to f—k you. Let me put my wet finger in your ear.’ No, you’re like, ‘Ew.’ It’s teasing. It’s just a teasy type thing. And the irony there is that Jarvis, again, wasn’t at the beach when that happened. And it happened multiple times. It wasn’t just at the beach. I mean, we have a couple of drinks. We just start… we’re silly.”

Hall also told Entertainment Tonight at the time that she had “no interest in Tyler” and denied comparisons to her and Kayla. “I adore him, I think he is the sweetest thing,” she says. “Do I think he needs to get a little bit more of a backbone? Absolutely. And I’ve had that conversation with him, but he kind of just wants to please everybody. You kind of see that. He’s just a nice guy. Nope. No interest in Tyler whatsoever,” she said.” And the difference there, between what I had done and what Kayla had done, which was not try to kiss Tyler. She tried to have sex with him on multiple occasions, and made him very uncomfortable. And he had asked her to stop multiple times. She didn’t. She continued. And with our situation, to me, there’s just no comparison. There’s really just no comparison.”

Hall also defended her behavior with Tyler while he was still married to Brittany in an interview with Page Six in 2022. “I don’t really have regrets because I, I would do it again,” she said at the time. When asked specifically about a scene where she and Tyler cuddled on the beach, Hall responded, “I don’t regret that. And anything that I did — that I have done on the show that people see — I don’t regret any of it.”

Hall did, however, admit to Page Six that “apologies have taken place,” confirming that she was “good” with Brittany prior to Tyler’s divorce from his ex-wife. “We went to his birthday party and — which Kayla wasn’t even invited to, if that kind of tells you where that stands — so I’m good with his wife,” Hall said, adding that she and Tyler were just “very good friends.” She continued, “The intention was always pure.”

Tyler and Hall first sparked dating rumors in September 2022 after they were photographed on what looked like a date at SOTA Sushi in Corona Del Mar, California, the same month Snow announced her divorce from Tyler. “Although Tyler and Alex spend time together and are very flirty, they aren’t a couple,” a source told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “Tyler is going through a breakup and isn’t focused on dating right now. Alex has been a good friend to Tyler. He’s been upset with everything that’s happened with his marriage and he’s leaning on friends like Alex to help him during this time.”

Brittany opened up about how she felt about the situation on the March 27, 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy.”I did not know what was going on,” “I think as someone who is so hands-on with my career, I was just completely shocked that I didn’t have a handle on reality in that way. That was shocking.”

On the kiss from the season finale, she said, “Of course I saw it—I watched it with my dog. What people think happened, happened—now I can laugh about it. It’s insane and it’s so funny.”

She looked back on her relationship: “There was love there,” she added. “There was a marriage there. There was so much love. I think that gray is hard to understand because it’s much more salacious and interesting that it’s just ‘he did this’ and ‘she did this’ and that’s what I would want to put out there. I think a lot of people go into relationships where someone hurts them but I don’t regret it. I don’t regret anything that happened because I loved that time when we had it.”
