PSA: Helldivers 2 Snowballs Are Crashing the Game

Developer Arrowhead has issued a warning to players about throwing snowballs in Helldivers 2 – we wish we were kidding, but apparently picking up and throwing snowballs can cause a crash. In the interest of keeping everyone’s experience stable, players are advised to refrain from using snowball fights as a means of relaxation during a dangerous mission on a snowy planet.

“We hope to have this fixed in the near future,” a community manager stated on Discord. Of all the threats Helldivers 2 has to offer, snowballs were probably last on anyone’s list, but here we are – throwing snowballs is now officially considered undemocratic.

Unfortunately, Arrowhead didn't code the game in such a way that it can simply switch features on and off whenever it wishes – this would certainly come in handy at times like this, but is naturally not an easy thing to do. For now, players will need to communicate this warning to fellow patriots, hoping that common sense prevails for Super Earth and Managed Democracy.

After a successful offensive against the Terminids, Super Earth has issued a new major order to all Helldivers, diverting forces to the Automaton front, where unfortunate losses have mounted in the meantime. Apparently, the robots are planning an operation called “The Reclamation” and the capture of a deep-space comms array on Troost has been declared the number one priority for all patriotic forces – Super Earth must find out what the Automatons have planned.

Players are currently theorizing that the Automatons are gearing up for a major push, hoping to break through to Cyberstan. This is the homeworld of the Cyborgs, who’ve in the past created the Automatons and are imprisoned on the planet. Should the robots manage a breakthrough, Super Earth may have another powerful enemy to face.

It’s in this context the snowballs have come into play: To secure a way to Troost, Helldivers have to liberate a snowy world called Vandalon – where brave patriots will now have to relax their nerves without any snowball fights.
