Pro Soars Enormous Distance To Land On Airbag

Matt MacDuff might just have one of the coolest houses out there. In his backyard in Kamloops, BC, MacDuff has some of the biggest jumps you can find as well as an airbag.

Watch MacDuff jump into the bag from very far away.

In this video, Matt sends a huge gap onto his enormous airbag. This jump is not one you would want to come up short on. As you can see, MacDuff flies over the sharp lip of the other jump.

This jump is unusual for airbags. Most of the time, the jumps are meant to send the rider higher not further, to mitigate the risk of gapping over the whole thing.

This long gap into the airbag was most likely built to mimic his 75-foot gap. The jump construction looks very similar and the jump’s radius is the same. Watch Sam Reynolds hit the airbag's sister jump with Macduff below.

The reason for this choice is to have a similar jump to practice tricks off of with a low-consequence landing. That way, visitors can dial their tricks on the exact same takeoff before trying tricks to dirt.

Many airbag facilities are popular for this reason. Perhaps the amount of skilled riders these days can be traced back to the ubiquity of places with soft landings.

It is worth noting that airbags do not quite feel like landing on a cloud. They are still a harsh landing.
