Princess Diana’s Festive Easter Looks Through the Years: Colorful Catherine Walker Coats, Pastel Skirt Suits and More

More than 25 years after her death, Princess Diana’s legacy lives on through her style. Between royal engagements and worldwide tours, her fashions have been a source of perpetual inspiration — and the Princess’ Easter style is no exception.

Before her divorce from King Charles III in 1996, Diana attended several Easter services at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, a popular royal tradition. Ahead, WWD looks back at her festive ensembles just in time for the holiday.

1983

During a visit to Australia, Princess Diana celebrated Easter in a floral quilted jacket by Miss Antoinette, pairing it with a turquoise silk dress and matching hat by Jan Van Velden. The royal completed her look with a pair of leather kitten heels.

1986

Princess Diana accessorized her dark violet Caroline Charles skirt suit, which featured embroidery and puff sleeves, with a matching pillbox hat and a pair of black leather riding boots.

1987

The Princess of Wales coordinated with her son, Prince William, in a pale blue double-breasted Catherine Walker coat with ivory trim. Diana added on a wide brim hat, white stockings, ivory leather gloves and matching pumps.

Princess Diana’s khaki skirt suit consisted of a cropped double-breasted blazer with bold shoulders and a pencil skirt featuring a scalloped hemline. She matched the black buttons on her jacket to a large clutch, leather pumps and a wide brim hat, topping off her look with sheer stockings.

Princess Diana attended Easter services in 1989 wearing a red single-breasted coat with puff sleeves and black lapels. Underneath, she sported a polka-dot, tie-neck blouse and a black pencil skirt, adding on sheer stockings, a wide-brim hat and patent leather pumps.

The Princess of Wales’ pink and white checkered Catherine Walker coat dress featured pearlescent buttons. Diana’s accessories included a matching hat with a netted veil, sheer stockings, ivory pumps and a matching clutch.

Princess Diana donned a pastel yellow suit featuring a pleated midi skirt. She added on a matching black hat laced with yellow ribbon, sheer black stockings and pumps with gold embellishments, which coordinated with her jewelry.
