"Powerful" Storm To Dump Feet Of Snow Across American West

Ski resorts across the American west have been yearning for snow, and it appears that Mother Nature is ready to deliver.

Meteorologist Chris Tomer is forecasting feet of snow to fall from Colorado to Washington between November 29 and December 4. See below:

Chris Tomer: "Powerful WNW Flow potential with big totals in PNW, WY, UT, CO, snow plume, jet pattern through 12/8."

According to Tomer's forecast, these notable resorts will score more than a foot of snow from the "powerful" system:

Breckenridge, CO: 13 in.

Aspen Snowmass, CO: 16 in.

Jackson Hole, WY: 26 in.

Timberline Lodge, OR: 31 in.

Mount Bachelor, OR: 48 in.

Countless skiers and riders are surely welcoming winter's triumphant arrival.

One region, in particular, is practically missing out on all of the powder fun- California.

The Sierra Nevada has experienced a disappointingly warm and dry start to winter that has caused some ski resorts to delay opening, and forced those who are open to rely on manmade snow.

These webcam photos from three prominent Lake Tahoe resorts help paint the picture:

As a new resident to the region, you could say that I'm slightly aggravated about how the season has started. Mountain biking is fun and all, but snow would be nice!

No worries. I have to remind myself that it's not even December yet. There's still a long season ahead with plenty of opportunities for snow.

To all of my fellow Sierra skiers that are planning to live vicariously through their friends' Instagram Stories that live in Oregon and Utah this weekend- hang strong!

Our time will come.
