Possibility For The Biggest Snowstorm Of The Season For Areas Of Colorado

Meteorologist Chris Bianchi reported to X (twitter) that it is increasingly likely that "the majority of the Denver metro area is in for a major 10”+ snowstorm Wednesday/Thursday."

AccuWeather also confirms this prediction, writing that mild conditions are forecast to start the week, and very warm highs in the day, up to the 60s, through Tuesday.

However, a pattern change will shift these warm temps to cooler ones, additionally bringing precipitation, leading forecasters to warn travelers to plan accordingly.

The storm bringing snow to the Northwest early this week is predicted to move southeastward as the week progresses, and the Rockies should see a solid amount of snow by the middle of the week.

Meteorologist Renee Duff reports that "widespread snow amounts of 6-12 inches are expected as the second half of the week progresses."

The Denver Metro area will see 6-10 inches, and the Denver Airport may see 5.5, which would make this storm the snowiest of the season.

Previously, Downtown Denver's largest snowfall this season was extremely early in the season (late October) when the area saw 8 inches of snow.

The resorts that will be affected include Arapahoe Basin, which is forecasting 14 inches in the next 5 days.

Loveland is predicted to see a mix of rain and snow, and the National Weather Service confirms this will likely begin Tuesday night. Chances of snow begin on Thursday.

Keystone also predicts snow beginning on Wednesday, with 9 inches predicted to fall in the next 5 days.

Copper Mountain could see 10 inches in the next 5 days, starting Tuesday night.

The season is turning around for resorts across the country as Miracle March continues and Spring skiing lies just around the corner. Colorado joins Vermont as seeing impressive snowfall late in the Winter season.
