Shrimp cocktail is one of those classic appetizers that never seems to go out of style. But leave it to The Pioneer Woman (a.k.a. Ree Drummond) to kick it up a notch! Drummond’s Cajun version of the tried-and-true party snack will liven things up and become your new go-to appetizer to bring to all your summer parties. And because it only takes 20 minutes to make, you don’t have to slave away in the kitchen all afternoon.

In classic Pioneer Woman fashion, Drummond uses a store-bought Cajun seasoning to add that spicy kick to her shrimp. However, you can make your own blend using paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, cayenne, thyme, and some salt and pepper.

Toss the raw shrimp (with the tails still on) in that Cajun seasoning and then add them to a large skillet with melted butter at the bottom. Drummond adds a bit of minced garlic and chopped green onions to the pan and allows the shrimp to cook while she makes her cocktail sauce.

The cocktail sauce recipe starts with a bit of store-bought tartar sauce. To it, Drummond adds horseradish — and that’s it! How easy is that?

With the shrimp nearly done, Drummond adds a bit of lemon juice and parsley to the skillet “to brighten things up.” The shrimp are then transferred directly to a platter, already adorned with that bowl of cocktail sauce, and they’re ready to eat.

“That was so fast I can’t even believe it,” Drummond said in the above video. “It really is the perfect thing to serve company.”

You can check out Drummond’s full recipe over on Food Network’s website to add this shrimp cocktail dish to your party appetizer roster this summer. Your friends and family may start begging you to bring it after your first get-together — it’s seriously that good.
