NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio (WJW) — A local Great Dane named Jynx is representing Northeast Ohio at the country’s best known dog show later this spring.

Jynx and her handler Tristen Lawrence are heading to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City come May 14.

French bulldogs remain the most popular US breed, and some dog fans aren’t pleased

“We are very excited to experience the Westminster dog show and hope to have some of the awesome Clevelanders team spirit,” owner Jackie van Delft told FOX 8 News in an email.

Jackie and Danny van Delft have been showing Great Danes since 2012, and 3-year-old Jynx (whose full name is RBIS MBISS GCHG Longo Lore N VanDelft’s Superstition) is one of multiple black Great Danes at their residence in North Royalton.

“Showing our Great Danes has become our lifestyle,” Jackie said. “Our Danes are very competitive, yet easy keepers and love to be with people.”

Jynx won multiple awards in order to qualify for the competition this May, but is also described as being “an exceptional representative of the breed with her kind heart and gentleness.”
