PetSmart's New $20 'Water-Repellent' Dog Cooling Mat Is Perfect For Spring and Summer Adventures

If you own a pet, you’d do anything for them, especially if that means buying the best products to keep them happy and healthy every day of the year. In the winter, that means dog booties and warm clothes if they’re not naturally equipped for snow and freezing temps. In the summer, that means keeping your pets as cool as can be so they don’t overheat while playing outside. And PetSmart’s newest cooling blanket is one of those items that are useful and helpful for the warmer temperatures to come.
PetSmart’s outdoor pet brand, Arcadia Trail, released their new Arcadia Trail Cooling Blanket for $19.99. The blanket comes in three colors: blue, pink and grey. It’s portable for travel thanks to its “fold-and-go” design and handle and has a “comfortable polyfill insert” for cushioned comfort for your dog.

Arcadia Trail Blue Cooling Blanket, $19.99 at PetSmart
The 40-inch by 30-inch blanket is made from a water-repellent, cooling fabric that is listed as a “jersey material” meant to “[keep] your pup cool.” While some other cooling blankets or mats have a gel filling to add to their cooling effect—which can lead to breakage and spillage—this cooling blanket cools your dog down just by the material it’s made of.
Again, this blanket is all part of Arcadia Trail’s new collection that’s all about safety in the warmer months. This means keeping your dog as cool as can be when they’re outside and keeping them visible at all times, especially at night. Even though days are longer in the spring and summer, odds are you’re outside longer enjoying the nice weather. You’re also more likely to go hiking or do something adventurous and outdoors with your pup. Because of this, you’ll want leashes, collars and harnesses that are visible either through highly reflective material (one even has a “headlight”).

There’s also the Arcadia Trail High Visibility Dog Leash that matches the above harness and has the same high-visibility reflective material so that even more of your pup can be seen at night. It comes with a comfort handle and adjusts so you can wear it around your waist for a more hands-free leash. It’s 4 feet long and is made of a lightweight material.

They also have an Arcadia Trail Navy Bolster Cot that allows airflow underneath by being a little off the ground. This is great for hot days outside (and could be used with the cooling blanket).
And lastly (in this article, at least), they have the Arcadia Trail Cooling Dog Vest. For the same reasons you’d want to use a cooling blanket, this vest is meant to cool your pup down. It’s made from breathable mesh and offers “evaporative cooling,” meaning that you immerse it in water and throw it on your pup. As it dries, it cools them off. It’s also reflective, which is a big plus.
