Pet of the Week: S’mores, Humane Society of Schuyler County

(WETM) — Today’s Pet of the Week is a very good boy from the Humane Society of Schuyler County.

S’mores is a 2-year-old shepherd mix who was named for his perfectly toasted coat. S’mores came to the shelter as a stray after being found wandering around the Finger Lakes National Forest. No one claimed S’mores after he was found, but he didn’t let this break his spirit.

S’mores is a very energetic and playful dog. This boy loves going on hikes, long walks, and adventures. S’mores also loves playing fetch and games that challenge his brain. S’mores is a very smart boy and knows the commands for sit, lay down, shake, and turn. He loves running around and playing, but S’mores’s favorite thing in the world would have to be belly rubs.

This boy would prefer to be the only dog in his new home, but he would be okay if his new family had some cats. S’mores gets along with kitties and could probably be trained to be friends with dogs, but it would take a lot of time and patience for his owner. Due to his high energy, S’mores would do best in a home with active adults. If there are kids in the home, they should be a bit older.

S’mores is neutered, up-to-date on all of his vaccinations, and has a microchip, so he’s all set to go to his forever home. If you would like to add this good boy to your family, you can call the Humane Society of Schuyler County at 607-594-2255 to schedule a meet-and-greet or stop by between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays, 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, or 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sundays.
