‘Parking’ it in the Poconos for the holiday weekend

KIDDER TOWNSHIP, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It’s a popular weekend to go to the park, and that’s what hundreds did at one place in the Poconos.

A pretty good crowd enjoyed the day at Hickory Run State Park.

Besides folks from northeastern Pennsylvania, others came from out of state like New York and New Jersey to hit the great outdoors and get away from it all.

Remembering the true meaning of Memorial Day

Some checked out one of the park’s most unique attractions: the more than 16-acre boulder field which was caused by ancient glaciers.

“It’s great. I totally recommend anybody to come out here. It’s really beautiful with the trees in the background. It makes some nice shots if you want to bring your, like, camera out here,” said Lower Merion resident Miles Nager.

“It’s been really good. They like doing this better than screen time or any of that, so that’s pretty amazing. I hope more families can come here,” said Ed David from Brooklyn, New York.

Other visitors to Hickory Run State Park head to Sand Spring Lake to enjoy the beach and warm water for this unofficial kickoff to summer.
