Osh Hop, Amazing Oshkosh Kiwanis Quest, BikeOsh and more all happening this week

OSHKOSH — Get an inside look at some historic buildings around Oshkosh during the first-ever "Historic Osh Hop" event.

Other events include Richard’s School of Dance’s 75th anniversary show, Amazing Oshkosh Quest and the annual Mother’s Day 5K.

1. New historic event to benefit Oshkosh museum

The Historic Osh Hop, a new event hosted by the Oshkosh Public Museum, will offer a look at seven historic properties around Oshkosh. The hop will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 11.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., ticket-holders can visit The Doe House, The Corbett House, Historic Sawyer Home at the Oshkosh Public Museum and others. Then, from 3 to 5 p.m. a complimentary reception will be held at The Howard (cash bar).

Tickets are $46.50 per person at oshkoshpublicmuseum.ticketleap.com/historic-osh-hop-24/details. This event is recommended for ages 12 and older. Tickets are non-refundable and benefit the Oshkosh Public Museum.

2. Richard’s School celebrates 75 years of ‘Entertainment’

Richard’s School of Dance will present “Entertainment” May 11, a 75th anniversary show. Show times are 12:30 or 6 p.m. at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium, 375 N. Eagle St.

For 75 years, Richard’s has offered dance classes for local youth, from jazz and ballet to hip hop and tap.

3. Amazing Oshkosh event to challenge participants

The Amazing Oshkosh Kiwanis Quest 2024 event is set to begin at 8 a.m. May 11. Based on the popular TV show, teams will race around Oshkosh completing challenges before moving on to the next site.

Four-person teams will need to perform a task at each location. Tasks might be anything from assembling a puzzle to performing a dance.

Check-in is from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. at Thrivent Financial, 40 W. Sixth Ave. Racing will begin at 8 a.m. Awards will be given at noon.

4. BikeOsh aims to improve safety, awareness

The eighth annual BikeOsh will take place May 11. The goal of the event is to improve biking safety and build up the local biking culture.

Beginning at 9 a.m., riders can pick up a Pedal Pass at one of the pit stop locations listed on the BikeOsh Facebook page.

The pass is a guide to Oshkosh bike facilities, routes and pit stops.

Turn in your pass by noon for a chance to win prizes. The post-ride celebration will be held at the Lakeshore Park Four Seasons Building, 1875 Punhoqua St.

5. Mother’s Day 5K to be held at Winnebago County Park

The seventh annual Mother’s Day 5K Run and Walk will be held May 12 at at Winnebago County Park, 501 E. County Y. The event is hosted by Fusion Footwear.

The course will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The run is non-competitive and is open to all abilities.

Space is limited. $20 registration entry fee includes Brooks running hat, Fusion Junk Band, race bib and medal, and an entry into a prize package valued at $500 from local Oshkosh businesses.
