CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY HOMETOWN) — Getting from one place to another can feel exhausting.

Thankfully, there are those stops along the way that help the journey feel less uncertain.

With his mom right next to him, Jermaine Blackmon is continuing his family legacy.

“She trained me well!” laughed Jermaine.

His family opened up their restaurant, Original Chicken & Ribs in 1952.

“That’s my father to the left and my grandfather on the right,” pointed out Jermaine.

Other than remodeling about 10 years ago, they haven’t changed what this place is about.

“It ain’t no secret, just love, just love,” said Jermaine.

Their restaurant in the Historic West End in Charlotte is one of the few stops in the Green Book that’s still standing in Charlotte to this day.

“It’s part of history, you can’t erase it. It’s always there and always going to be there,” said Jermaine.

So, if you’re on the road and need a break from the constant shuffle of life, here’s one space to feel safe.
