Oreo has certainly been creative with flavored cookies in the past. Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Neapolitan, Cinnamon Bun, Mocha Caramel Latte; a quick walk down the snack aisle at your local grocery store will give you a small taste of the wide number of flavors that Oreo has to offer. So of course, with so many fun innovations up their sleeves, we can always expect Oreo to come out with delicious new flavors, and their most recent one seems to be their tastiest one yet: Churro!

For a limited time, Oreo will be selling churro-flavored cookies starting on March 27. These cookies feature a “fried-dough flavor cookie” with a churro creme filling. In their official announcement, Oreo plays around with the churro cookie by dipping it in classic churro sauces: dulce de leche and spicy chocolate.

This actually isn’t the first time Oreo has offered this unique flavor on shelves. Churro was actually a tested flavor combination that Oreo hid behind their “Mystery Flavor” packs in 2019, where customers can buy sleeves of cookies, then taste test and guess the flavor themselves for a grand prize of $50,000. The flavor was revealed in December 2019, but the company didn’t put the flavor back on shelves. Until now, that is.

Oreo fans are, of course, super stoked about the latest flavor. “Your product team is killing it,” writes one enthusiastic fan. “Oreo, you understood the assignment,” writes another.

There are, of course, fans who have opinions; mostly those who wish Oreo would skip testing new flavors and just bring back some of their classic favorites, like the Cookie Butter or Carrot Cake. Some are even suggesting new flavor combinations to pair with this Churro Oreo, like a horchata creme.

Now the question is … will these Oreo Churro cookies be more popular than their attempt at making Oreo churros? Based on snackers’ enthusiasm online, it seems there’s a good chance these cookies are going to quickly clear off of shelves nationwide.
