Oreo Has a First-Of-Its-Kind Cookie Hitting Shelves Soon

We’re the kind of people who firmly believe there’s never a bad time for an Oreo cookie. Mainly because there are so many Oreos out there that there's bound to be one for every occasion.

Maybe you’re looking to make a dessert with the classic creme-filled cookie, or you want to enjoy a glass of milk with your favorite level of “stuf,” or you like to try one of Oreo's limited-edition flavors. Whatever the case, Oreo is always working hard to ensure you’re satisfied.

Over the years, milk’s favorite cookie has come in many different varieties. While flavors like Space Dunk and even the ever-popular Red Velvet Oreo don’t always stick around, we enjoy those fleeting moments. Now, as the year we’ve dubbed “the year of the Oreo” continues, Oreo is teaming up with an unexpected brand for a first-of-its-kind flavor release.

Oreo and Sour Patch Kids have teamed up to create the first-ever sour Oreo cookie. No, the Sour Patch Kids aren’t playing a trick on you—this collab is very real.

Oreo Releases New Sour Patch Kids Cookie

The limited-edition Sour Patch Kids Oreos look like your classic Golden Oreo, but look again; Those mischievous gummy candies are actually in the cookie and creme. The Oreo cookie itself is Sour Patch Kids-flavored and dotted with colorful mix-ins. The sandwich creme is the classic Oreo creme filled with sour sugar pieces. Looks like this Oreo will also be sour, sweet, then gone.

This isn’t the first time Sour Patch Kids have been available in cookie form. In 2020, the candy brand teamed up with Chips Ahoy! (another Nabisco-owned cookie) to release a limited-edition Sour Patch Kids Chips Ahoy! cookie. They were pretty well-reviewed, so hopefully, these sour Oreos have the same reception.

The new Oreos will begin rolling out to retailers nationwide beginning May 6. But, if you can’t wait to try the unexpected cookie, you can pre-order them on Oreo’s site starting on April 24.

Oreo x Sour Patch Kids Merch

Oreos aren’t the only thing the Sour Patch Kids have invaded. The brands are also collaborating on an exclusive merch line.

The Sour Patch Kids Oreo merch is the perfect loungewear for those days when you’re feeling sour or sweet. It’s comprised of a matching sweatsuit, bucket hat, socks, fanny pack, and hair clips. The line will launch on Oreo’s site on May 2 and is available while supplies last.

So, if you see us lounging in our Oreo tracksuit, downing cookies by the sleeve...no you didn’t.
