Oasis Trailblazer 2024: Michelle Mitcham exemplifies boundless potential
Women’s History Month began as a grassroots effort by women in response to the invisibility of women’s accomplishments in the history books. Women organized locally and regionally to fill the gap by providing presentations in schools and organizing community programs to raise awareness.
This is the 15th year Oasis has organized an effort to make the invisible visible by celebrating the trailblazing work of local women and girls.
Oasis is pleased to honor Dr. Michelle Mitcham as a 2024 Trailblazer.
Throughout her distinguished career as a psychotherapist, a college professor at Florida A&M University, and a consultant and trainer Mitcham has achieved remarkable success and is an inspiration for countless women and girls.
In addition to her professional and academic achievements, Dr. Michelle Mitcham has a significant commitment to social justice advocacy. She consistently surpasses expectations in her efforts to uplift and empower those in her community by promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices.

In 2018 Dr. Mitcham added Publisher to her accomplished resume when she purchased Tallahassee Woman Magazine. And since then, has transformed the magazine into a showcase of women from all walks of life - from the photos to the authors to the topics highlighted.
While she is undoubtedly an extraordinary person in many aspects of her life, we are honoring her as a trailblazer for publishing a magazine that shows our community that women are not homogenous or two dimensional.
Women are smart, brave, resilient, and diverse and we can see that in the pages of the magazine. Driven by compassion and empathy, Mitcham uses the magazine to actively raise awareness about the true experiences of women’s lives – leaving a lasting impact on our community and a source of inspiration for generations of women to follow.
