For 17 years, The Oasis Center for Women & Girls has held an annual community-wide celebration of women and girls during Women’s History Month.

We think one way to encourage girls to believe they can be and do anything is to show them endless possibilities for their lives. By celebrating the achievements of women before them, we are lighting a path for them to follow into their future.

The Oasis Center is proud to honor Dr. Cecile Reynaud with the 2024 Legacy Award for her life’s work helping women’s sports evolve not only at FSU and in Tallahassee, but internationally.

Starting as a graduate assistant at FSU in 1976, Reynaud led the Lady Seminoles to more than 650 victories between 1976 and 2001, winning six Metro Conference championships and the 1998 ACC crown.

When she retired from coaching, Reynaud taught Sports Management at FSU for another 14 years, worked with the head coach for the USA Junior National Team, and was deputy competition manager for the 1996 Olympic Games.

Reynaud came out of retirement again in late 2022 to develop the national startup professional league for women, the Pro Volleyball Federation; she serves as its vice president of operations. The first match was held in Omaha, Nebraska, this year — and over 11,600 fans were in attendance.

To build one’s career path, Reynaud recommends that one “Try not to say no! Do a good job where you are, no matter how small the role. People will notice and invite you back for more.”

Don’t overlook important roles off the field, including administrative, as a way to stay in the game.
