Oakland Zoo Rescues 2 Precious Orphaned Mountain Lion Cubs
These little mountain lion cubs are just under ten weeks old, and already, their life has drastically changed. Orphaned presumably from their mother being hit by a car, two female cubs were recently rescued and brought to the Oakland Zoo.
When they got to the zoo, the first thing the staff did was bring them to the veterinary team. There, they gave the cubs fluids and treated them for fleas and parasites. Besides being a little underweight, these two cubs are in pretty good health.
It’s a miracle that they were found before anything bad could happen to them! They definitely have those wild instincts; during the vet footage, they are shown looking pretty startled by all the action.

The two cubs will remain in the care of the Oakland Zoo until the California Department of Fish and Wildlife finds them a permanent home.
These little mountain lions are the 25th and 26th mountain lions that the team has treated at the Oakland Zoo. Clearly, California has an abundance of mountain lions, and the zoo really cares about them!
At the end of the TikTok, the team introduces the two cubs by name. They’ve decided to name them Willow and Maple. Those are such cute names for them!
These little cats are in the best hands possible now for a healthy upbringing before going off to another facility. Cubs of this age are likely to go on to lead wonderful and healthy adult lives, so we’re really glad someone spotted these cubs when they did. They likely would have not made it if no one found them in time.
Luckily, these cats are lively and spry; they should have no problems putting on some weight as they grow up. They are a great testament to the powers of wildlife rescue.
