It's not too late to have a sip at NM Wine Fest

May 26—It's a grape time to drink wine at the 2024 New Mexico Wine Festival. And it is not too late to join the festivities on Memorial Day.

With clear skies and a warm Memorial weekend, thousands of wine enthusiasts arrived to the Balloon Fiesta Park to partake in samples from New Mexican wineries.

The annual wine festival hosts 15 wineries that serve more than 200 different types of wines, so enthusiasts can have the wine and conversation flowing to their hearts content.

With the purchase of a ticket, oenophiles — people who love wine — are able to sample wine from each vendor.

Glasses, bottles, and "champbongs" are available for purchase. Wine checks are available for guests who do not want to carry purchased bottles around the field.

Other non-wine vendors include local shops selling items from honey, clothing apparel to ornate jewelry.

Local food trucks like Umami Moto, Dawgs for a Cause and Chili Willie sold food at the event.

Wine festival patrons are can dance at the silent disco, take a photo at photo booths, and play mini putt-putt in between samples of New Mexican wine.

"I like getting to learn more about local wines in town. It's nice having all of them in one place," said Julie Montoya, one of just thousands of Wine Festival-goers.

The festival hosts local bands throughout its three days.
