Northeast Ohio park ranked among best national parks in US

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A popular Northeast Ohio park is ranked among the best national parks in the country, according to a recent list compiled by online travel guide Travel Lemming.

Ahead of National Park Week, Travel Lemming on Tuesday released its 2024 ranking for the top national parks in the United States.

The blog site says the ranking is based on seven factors, including affordability, accessibility, biodiversity, crowds, reviews, jobs, and weather.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is ranked 11th on the list of 63 national parks.

The article highlights some of the park’s iconic features, like its many waterfalls and the ski slopes at Boston Mills and Brandywine.

“Cleveland locals and visitors are fortunate to have a vast national park just outside the city center,” the article says, in part. “Waterfalls spill from rocky cliffs and skiers carve snowy slopes at this unexpected gem.”

According to the list, Cuyahoga Valley National Park is considered the most affordable national park to visit, with guests spending an average of less than $20. It was also considered the second most accessible to an airport.

  1. Shenandoah National Park – Virginia

  2. Joshua Tree National Park – California

  3. Olympic National Park – Washington

  4. Great Smoky Mountains National Park – Tennessee, North Carolina

  5. North Cascades National Park – Washington

  6. Grand Canyon National Park – Arizona

  7. Channel Islands National Park – California

  8. New River Gorge National Park – West Virginia

  9. Everglades National Park – Florida

  10. Redwood National and State Parks – California

According to Travel Lemming, Cuyahoga Valley National Park ranked 13th in last year’s listing.
