North Avenue Market, 5900 W. North Ave., is switching from a food hall to a restaurant and events center.

It's called Christopher's Southern Kitchen & Bar and the transition to the new format has begun. An open house is scheduled from June 4 to June 9.

Bittercube will continue to operate the bar, as well as Mosler's Vault in the space, and will help curate Christopher's cocktail menu.

North Avenue Market, renovated from a former Associated Bank building. opened in September 2022 and offered several food and drink options as a food hall.

“We are excited to continue providing an amazing space for our community to come together, eat, fellowship, and grow,” owner and founder Chris Morse said in a press release. “My vision for North Avenue Market remains for it to be a hub for the four surrounding neighborhoods — a place where anyone feels welcome no matter who they are or where they come from.”

Morse didn't return calls for an interview.

Christopher's will definitely have a Southern influence. Morse is from North Carolina and general manager Michael Pyle-Harris, who's from Virginia and previously owned a barbecue restaurant, will serve as head chef.

Menu items include fried pickles, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, collard greens, vegan gumbo, catfish, salmon croquettes, barbecue pork chops, smash burgers, banana pudding and sweet potato pie.
