Confession time: we don't want American Idol to end. We haven't actually been watching it, but the show has been responsible for some of Katy Perry's best fashion looks to date. From the sculptural shark metal crop top (even with the wardrobe malfunction, it was still a style slay IMO) to her Y2K revival layering a corset dress over flares. And, when the series does undoubtedly conclude, so too will the regular outfit pics she shares on Instagram of all her Idol looks as this is Katy's last as a judge *sob*.

Until then, we'll be making the most of each new 'fit. Starting with the artist's latest ensemble, a black leather look accessorised with a belt from which hangs every single key Katy could possibly have ever owned. We're talking old-school car keys, door keys, key tags and more, with some hanging from each other to create long chains.

The belt is actually attached to the black leather skirt that features a completely open side and is a signature design element of XI SCORPII. The Central Saint Martins design graduate regularly incorporates keys into their womenswear collections, with Solange Knowles previously donning the same skirt and belt combo.

The resulting effect is a high-fashion take on the uniform of a handyman or a landlord, responsible for every flat in a high-rise apartment block. It's what we're coining 'locksmith chic'.

Katy completed the look with an equally statement top in the form of a custom black leather strapless torso from ABOMÉ Studio by Amanda Borgfors Mészaros. Opaque black tights and black heels provided the finishing touches.

Yep, Katy's in her fashun era and we're not mad about it.
