Nike Air Max Day commemorates the heritage of the Air Max silhouette designed by Tinker Hatfield. It’s a multi-faceted annual celebration includes new special-edition releases, reissued models, fresh silhouettes, celebratory flash sales, interactive campaigns, and new Nike Air Technology to propel the franchise into the future. It arrives every year on March 26, the same day the original shoe launched back in 1987, and was established in 2014 on the sneaker’s 27th anniversary.
What to Expect During Nike Air Max Day 2024
As Air Max Day history has shown, Nike routinely commemorates the signature shoe with highly anticipated new releases. The first-ever Nike Air Max Day launched the original Air Max 1 in an iconic “University Red” colorway, and each year of the last decade followed in stride with special releases and events. The 2017 “Vote Forward” campaign enlisted creatives or “RevolutionAirs” to add their spin to classic Air Max silhouettes, and resulted in the blockbusting Air Max 1/97 Sean Witherspoon sneaker collaboration, and, in 2019, Nike encouraged sneakerheads to donate sneakers to local communities in the “Give Fresh Air” campaign. 2023 saw a hefty drop of new colorway releases, a re-issue of the Air Max 1 “Shima Shima,” and the Air Max 1 ’86 Big Bubble debut, which pulled from Hatfield’s 1986 design archives.
