Nashville ranks among the best walkable cities for tourists: study

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — When most think of walkable areas, big cities like New York City, Chicago or Boston might come to mind. However, a new study claims Nashville is the second-most walkable city in the U.S. for tourists.

According to Preply, embracing a city on foot is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in a new environment.

To determine where the most walkable cities in the U.S. are, the travel experts at Preply analyzed the top 30 most-visited cities and used TripAdvisor to highlight the top five attractions in each one.

The distance, walking time, and how many steps it would take to walk between each attraction were then calculated per city.

According to the study, Nashville is the second-most walkable city in U.S., with tourists taking approximately 33 minutes and 3,150 steps to explore Music City’s most iconic landmarks on foot.

Tourists won’t have to worry about spending big on transportation fares since most of the popular attractions are just steps away from each other in the mecca of country music.

Preply reported that it takes just over half an hour to walk from the top five hotspot destinations in Nashville to experience a rich lesson in music history.

In the study, experts compared the walking distance from Ole Smokey Distillery & Brewery to the Country Music Hall of Fame, stopping by the Johnny Cash Museum, Ryman Auditorium and downtown Nashville.
